Jeopardy Rules are management-defined rules used to identify work orders which are in danger of violating certain business practices defined by those rules. Orders matching the specified criteria are automatically brought to the attention of dispatchers and other personnel concerned with the successful conclusion of work orders. In addition to dispatchers being notified of orders set in jeopardy, a rule can contain a Contact Matrix, which allows others to be notified of certain circumstances.
There are two types of Jeopardy Rules: SQL Rules and If/Then Rules.
SQL Rules are simply SQL statements that select work orders based on the desired criteria. It should be noted that the person creating the rule must have knowledge of SQL and the CrossForm table structure.
If/Then Rules are more straightforward, they are created by selecting predefined table fields and designating values to which those fields will be compared. The SQL for the rule is built by the system from the selected field/value pairs.
Once rules are defined and activated, a constantly running service program (a separate application) periodically runs each active rule and flags work orders meeting the criteria.
