Building a Better ASP Environment

Cleveland, Ohio – March 2009 -Mainstream Software is working with Partner, N2Net, on enhancing our CrossForm ASP environment by upgrading equipment and expanding capabilities.  CrossForm ASP, our web-based solution provides secure access anytime and allows clients to rely on our IT experts to maintain.  Enhancement Plans include moving to the SQL Server 2008 platform, providing redundancy across all applications, and increasing database availability.  

The concept being deployed is known as database mirroring.  Database mirroring maintains two copies of a single database that must reside on different server instances of SQL Server Database Engine.  Using this method in our ASP environment will result in each server (Messenger, Web, etc.) having one principal server and one mirror server. 

Database mirroring involves sending a stream of active transaction log records (insert, update, and delete operations) that occur on the principal database onto the mirror database as instantaneously as possible. When a database mirroring session is synchronized, the ready standby server supports rapid failover with no loss of data from committed transactions.  In the event of a production (principal) server fail, client applications will recover quickly by reconnecting to the standby (mirror) server.

The ASP enhancement project will be completed in phases throughout 2009.  The investment will result in a more protected environment, gear us up for the new CrossForm product written in .net, and support our growth.  All updates will be performed after hours and will require minimal service interruptions. Clients will be informed of any updates and changes throughout the process.
